About the work environment:

Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start & end times.

Hiring Location:

We are hiring for this position out of our Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary offices. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.

About you

You are an experienced senior leader in the field of regulatory reporting. You are comfortable interacting with all levels of an organization, from rolling up your sleeves to work on a report with a junior member of your team, to sharing results with Senior Leadership in a concise manner that all can understand. You excel within a fast-paced environment, have good judgement and problem-solving skills and understand that attention to detail is key when reports are tightly scrutinized by regulators.

In this role you will oversee the team responsible for managing regulatory submissions, ensuring timely approvals, and maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies. You will also serve as a key liaison between our company and regulatory authorities, advocating for our interests and ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory frameworks.

About the qualifications:

  • Completion of a qualified accounting designation or equivalent (CA, CGA, CMA, CPA)
  • 8+ years of experience in financial services leadership and supervisory role, with at least 2 years in regulatory affairs.
  • Leadership experience, with a demonstrated ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and guidelines relevant to financial institutions
  • Proven track record of successfully leading regulatory submissions and obtaining regulatory approvals.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate regulatory trends and develop proactive regulatory strategies.
  • Strong time management and analytical skills with a solid aptitude for information technology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate with regulatory authorities.
  • Ability to grasp business concepts in a dynamic, fast paced and multi-entity environment.


About the day-to-day

  • Manages, motivates and develops direct reports through ongoing performance development
  • Regulatory Submissions Management: Oversee the preparation, submission, and maintenance of regulatory filings. These include submissions to the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) and other provincial regulatory bodies. Lead the completion of the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) and ad hoc regulatory information requests.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and assess the impact on our operations. Develop and implement processes to ensure ongoing compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Regulatory Strategy Development: Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement regulatory strategies aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Regulatory Intelligence: Stay abreast of emerging trends, regulations, and guidelines in the regulatory landscape. Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on the potential impact of regulatory changes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with departments such as R&D, Quality Assurance, Legal, and Manufacturing to ensure regulatory requirements are integrated into product development and business processes.
  • Regulatory Agency Interaction: Serve as a key point of contact for regulatory agencies. Manage communications, inspections, and audits conducted by regulatory authorities.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to the regulatory affairs team. Foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential regulatory risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them. Ensure proactive management of regulatory issues to minimize impact on business operations.
  • Training and Development: Provide mentorship and support to regulatory affairs team members. Develop informational programs to enhance regulatory knowledge and capabilities across the organization.
  • Special Projects: Within department for process improvements or other enterprise-wide projects as assigned as a Finance or Regulatory lead.


Annual Compensation:

Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary and discretionary profit share opportunity. Salary for this position will vary between $135,000 and $160,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities & experience that the chosen candidate possess. As part of our recruiting process, shortlisted candidates will be asked their salary expectations for this position.
