Description

As an Area Controller at Amwaste, you will be a key member of our finance and accounting leadership team, reporting directly to the Corporate Controller. Your primary responsibility will be ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting and leading the operational accounting and billing teams. We are looking for a detail-oriented, experienced professional who can complete the month-end process with accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Accounting Operations: Coordinating the daily accounting operations including billing, accounts payable and bank reconciliations
  • Month-End Close Process: Complete the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP standards for the assigned locations. Completion of related account reconciliations.
  • Business Partnering: Working with site and area leadership to guide the organization's financial decisions.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and variance analyses.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with department heads to complete the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Internal Controls: Maintain and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance accounting processes and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Audit and Compliance: Coordinate with the Corporate Controller the completion of the annual financial audits, ensuring a smooth and successful audit process.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree - Accounting preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting and financial management experience.
  • Experience overseeing the finance operations for multiple sites
  • Waste Industry experience is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel (Intermediate Level or higher).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards.
