CFC has a need for a Project Finance Portfolio Manager to join our Portfolio Management team. This is a hybrid position requiring onsite work at our headquarters office in Sterling, VA, as well as optional remote workdays. This role is responsible for credit structuring and managing the underwriting process for NRUCFC's non-recourse loan portfolio with both non-member renewable energy project sponsors and CFC members and their subsidiaries or affiliates, and Investor-Owned Utilities within the G&T Group, which includes originating, pricing, underwriting, closing, funding and monitoring their non-recourse loan or bond transactions.

As a Project Finance Portfolio Manager, you will:
• Originate, analyze, process and service non-recourse loan transactions primarily in the renewable energy sector.
• Develop and maintain relationships with financial institutions and sponsors including evaluating non-recourse loan portfolios that are being syndicated by other banks.
• Partner with the Director, Project Finance in the negotiating, structuring and legal documentation of non-recourse loan opportunities.
• Lead the negotiating, structuring and legal documentation of assigned non-recourse loan opportunities.
• Serve as a resource to cooperative members, industry organizations and internally by providing advice related to the structuring and underwriting of projects that require non-recourse financing.
• Partner with the Director, Project Finance in the preparation and maintenance of the non-recourse loan pipeline and other reports required by senior management.
• Oversee and preform detailed analysis on prospective credits, including comprehensive credit underwriting, detailed financial modeling and credit recommendations.
• Risk Rate credits for assigned loan portfolio, which includes evaluating quantitative and qualitative factors, and developing strategies to mitigate ongoing credit risk.
• Monitor credit compliance, analyze associated risks, and make recommendations for appropriate resolution, which may include discussions with financial institutions, sponsors and other non-recourse project participants and preparing requests for consents or waivers.
• Detect potential problem credits, advise appropriate internal parties, assist in the resolution of any credit issue, which may include the restructuring of a problem loan.

To be successful, you will need:
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field required.
• 7 years of combined credit underwriting, credit risk management experience or business research and analysis covering the electric power industry, preferably with electric utilities, in a commercial bank or non-banking financial institution.
• Completion of a credit risk loan underwriting training program preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of products and financial statement spreading software.
• Occasional overnight travel required.
• Strong credit risk and financial analytical skills.
• Knowledge of financial and accounting principles with the ability to read financial documents.
• Knowledge of non-recourse loan structures and legal documents.
• Knowledge of Electric Power Industry including renewable and clean power projects and Debt Capital Markets.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong financial forecasting and modeling skills.
• Significant relationship management and negotiation sills.
• Strong critical thinking skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to multi-task, prioritize activities and meet deadlines while working in an unstructured environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
