POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Engineer position is responsible for the planning, design, engineering, supervision, safety and closeout of capital and non-capital projects in support of site manufacturing operations, applying the principles of engineering, chemistry, physics and computer science.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Provide project development skills, including capital estimation, project justification, budget management, capital appropriations, writing detailed engineering and safety reviews.
  • Complete project implementation including project execution, contractor supervision, startup support, coordination of projects with site departments, and document control.
  • Develop and assist in delivering training to site personnel on new or modified systems and equipment.
  • Provide support to operations and maintenance as needed in day-to-day activities.
  • Provide guidance and expert advice to management or other groups on technical, systems, or process-related topics
  • Establish manufacturing standards, monitoring actual plant performance, and make proposals for improvement. Administer the cost efficiency improvement program.
  • Assist in commissioning of new plant equipment and in troubleshooting of existing processes.
  • Assist in HAZOP studies and safety based facility upgrades.
  • Work with finance on capital budgeting, forecasting, and the closeout of financial segments of projects


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Desired Background
  • 5 - 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment required as well as a minimum of 3-years' experience in relevant project/process engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering or related engineering.


Knowledge, Skills & Talents
  • Knowledge in piping systems, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, pressure vessels, boilers, chillers, air compressors and all other machinery located within a manufacturing facility.
  • Electrical distribution and controls
  • Instrumentation including PLCs and DCS
  • Experience working in a PSM environment is preferred
  • AutoCAD experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, develop solutions and find root cause of plant safety and operational issues.
