What You'll Be Doing

The Controller works closely with the CFO and is responsible for the accounting operations of Bank Iowa Corporation, Bank Iowa, and related entities. This includes ensuring the accurate production of periodic financial reports, maintaining both an adequate system of accounting records and a set of FDICIA controls designed to mitigate risk, and ensuring financial reports comply with state and federal banking regulations as well as generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position is responsible for managing the Bank's general ledger, records, and reports on a daily, monthly and annual basis. Supervisory responsibility includes supervision and development of accounting staff.
  • Oversees all aspects of Bank Iowa Corporation (a bank holding company) and Bank Iowa's accounting function, including general ledger composition, accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaids and accruals.
  • Responsible for administrative maintenance and structure of the core (Finastra's Phoenix) general ledger as well as interfaces with other platforms and systems.
  • Responsible for preparation of key reporting and analytical requirements of bank's derivative activities, CECL aspects of loan and investment portfolio, and non-CUSIP investments.
  • Prepares, ensures accuracy of, and delivers the Call Report, FRY-9SP, Summary of Deposits and other regulatory reports as assigned.
  • Leads the preparation of information for internal and external auditors, including the preparation of the fiscal year-end consolidated financial statements, associated footnotes, and performing/monitoring internal controls and process.
  • Coordinates preparation and delivery of information for tax reporting requirements and filings for both BIC and Bank Iowa.
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual budget under the lead of the finance department including distribution/capital planning and execution.


Requirements

Skills/Experience You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, CPA Certification, and/or bank audit experience preferred.
  • 10+ years' experience in an accounting position, experience in a financial institution is highly preferred.
  • Ideal candidates will have knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the financial services industry, strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses; have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
