Job Summary

Manage department providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all Company activities that will assist management, its shareholders, auditors, examiners and other users in making educated economic decisions about the Company's future.

Essential Job Functions
  • The Controller oversees the activities of the Corporate Accounting Department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, and annual budgets.
  • Responsible for the corporate regulatory reporting function including Federal Reserve, FDIC, FFIEC, NASDAQ and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Oversee corporate income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.
  • Establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, in compliance with FDICIA and Sarbanes Oxley Section 404.
  • Respond to CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial information needs.
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special ad-hoc reports.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  • Daily tasks consist of reviewing general ledger, daily exception reporting, review of previous day transactions, and monitoring wire settlement.
  • Oversee the activities of accounts payable, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of invoices, employee expense reports, cash control, tax compliance.
  • Oversee the funding of the Bank to ensure accurate and timely handling of the Bank's liquidity at the Federal Reserve and various correspondent banks upon the direction of the CFO.
  • Monthly tasks include monitoring the general ledger and internal DDA reconciliation process and procedures, month-end close process, oversees preparation of monthly board financial reports, preparation of monthly ALCO reports, preparation of monthly FRB liquidity report, and preparation of DDA/CD/LOAN/LOC reports by product code.
  • Quarterly tasks include review/filing of required regulatory reports, preparation of interest rate risk analysis assumptions for PCBB, incentive plan reporting, monitoring of correspondence banks financial information (based on call report data), and assess adequacy of ALLL in accordance with policy.
  • Annual tasks include external audit, tax returns (including bank franchise taxes, state and local taxes, sales tax, etc.), annual reporting, and bank examinations as required.
  • Special projects include adoption of new accounting standards, leading the team on new reporting requirements (both SEC and FDIC) and implementation of new technology, as needed.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited University.
  • 10 years of hands-on accounting managerial experience
  • Ability to focus on task and be detail oriented
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Three or more years of experience in banking related industry

  • Spreadsheet package (Excel)
  • Strong general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, income tax and banking working knowledge.
  • Strong managerial abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suit with intermediate/ advanced skill in Excel
  • Adaptability to banking related software programs
