Planned Parenthood Keystone (PPKey) serves 37 counties in Pennsylvania, home to over half of Pennsylvania residents. We have administrative offices in the Lehigh Valley, Harrisburg, Warminster, and York. We operate 8 medical centers that serve over 30,000 patients annually and offer comprehensive sexuality education that reaches thousands of young adults.

Planned Parenthood Keystone is looking for a full-time, exempt Controller.

The Controller is responsible for directing, managing, and reporting the financial activities of the organization, overseeing day-to-day fiscal operations, and supervising Finance staff. The Controller is responsible for the preparation of the monthly financial statements and analyzes and interprets financial results. The Chief Financial Officer, recommends tactical and strategic advances in financial policy, planning, and management. The Controller provides leadership to the organization through interdepartmental coordination and teamwork.

Essential Functions
    • Supervise accounting functions including internal audits, payroll in collaboration with HR., accounts payable, cash receipts, contractual compliance, banking relationships, financial management of grants, and preparation/distribution of financial reports to internal customers
    • Recruit, manage, and develop Finance and Purchasing staff
    • Assist CFO with the management of agency cash flow by monitoring timing of expenditures and line of credit; audit cash transactions in Practice Management and Fundraising systems
    • Maintain banking relationships for routine services and lines of credit. Perform monthly bank reconciliations and/or coordinate and supervise others to perform
    • Oversee regular review of the general ledger including balance sheet account analysis and review of income and expense accounts to ensure accuracy and detect and correct anomalies
    • Review and approve all data entered into Finance department record-keeping systems and, ultimately, the general ledger and financial statements; oversee the accurate and timely recording of all revenues, expenses, cash receipts, and disbursements.
    • Maintain and improve systems to ensure effective internal controls, compliance with governmental and contractual requirements, and timely and accurate reporting
    • Develop, review, and update Finance Department accounting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with internal control standards and PPFA standards.
    • Oversight of all Affiliate payroll functions, processes, and systems and collaborates on any planned upgrades or process changes with the VP, of Human Resources and Compliance.
    • In partnership with HR. review, and reconcile bi-weekly payroll
    • Participate in interdepartmental, interdisciplinary teams to improve and integrate centralized and distributed financial operations, with special attention to technical assistance and oversight of health centers
    • Work with department heads and managers to provide documentation, communication, and training on financial policy, operations, and protocols. Ensure that department heads, managers, and other staff receive regular and specialized financial reporting to support their budgeting and financial management responsibilities
    • Prepare agency financial statements that are timely and accurate for both internal and external
    • Assist in annual budget preparation
    • Coordinate annual audit, ensuring completion on time
    • Oversee and coordinate quarterly CRQM audits.
    • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings
    • Ensure compliance with the financial management requirements of funders
    • Assist with the development and monitoring of budgets needed for funding opportunities
    • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer
    • Serve as an Ambassador for the organization to inspire support and connection with the mission and services provided by the affiliate
    • Ensure completion of required annual training
    • Adhere to all HIPAA and patient privacy regulations


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
    • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in a related field, or equivalent experience. Experience in non-profit and/or healthcare accounting preferred.
    • 7 years of experience with progressive-related responsibility
    • Willingness to travel. Reliable means of transportation
    • Computer literacy, including competency in affiliate email, Internet, and patient management systems software, if applicable to the job
    • Extensive knowledge of accounting practices and principles
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills that enable work in a collaborative and multi-faceted team environment
    • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
    • Strong computer skills, including competency in Blackbaud Financial Edge, Microsoft Office software, affiliate email, Internet and financial management/accounting software systems
    • Ability to analyze and interpret concrete and abstract data, business and professional journals, technical procedures, financial reports, and applicable government laws and regulations
    • Ability to write clear, persuasive, and informative reports, correspondence, and procedural instructions
    • Ability to organize, multi-task, and effectively function in a fast-paced environment to set and achieve short and long-term goals
    • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
    • Strong commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer service
    • Preferred:
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certificate

Salary and Benefits
    • Compensation for this position starts at $100,000/annually and goes up from there based on experience
