Distribution Center Controller

The Distribution Center Controller will be located in the Dayco U.S. distribution center in Memphis, TN. As a key business partner to site operational and functional leaders, the Distribution Center Controller will be responsible for all site financial operations including the monthly closing process, reporting, analysis, business cases, forecasting, budgeting, and internal controls.

A qualified candidate will have strong analytical skills, expertise in accounting systems and a focus on operational finance. A minimum of 7 years of prior experience in accounting and finance, including in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment is required. A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required, with additional credentials such as a CPA, CMA or MBA being highly valued. The role calls for strong leadership qualities, superior communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee all financial operations at the site level, including monthly close, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis.
  • Generate comprehensive financial analysis and reports to accurately reflect the site's financial performance.
  • Develop and implement budgets and financial forecasts to guide decision-making and ensure financial stability.
  • Manage the timely preparation, review, analysis and dissemination of site-level financial results including sales, operating costs, profitability and cash flow.
  • Ensure that all financial information is timely, accurate, reliable and in compliance with GAAP and company policy.
  • Collaborate with U.S. Sales team to analyze sales order activity and shipping performance to ensure an accurate sales forecast.
  • Review and analysis of Gross to Net Sales adjustments and reconciliation to customer contracts for compliance with terms and conditions including rebates, discounts and allowances.
  • Provide financial support to Sales team to drive business growth including review of new business quotes, profitability and cash flow analysis in support of business growth initiatives.
  • Perform customer sales and profitability analysis to identify trends and proactively discuss insights with Sales team.
  • Monitor costs, analyze variances, and implement cost control measures to optimize operational efficiency, including product cost analysis, purchase price variances, direct labor, inbound and outbound freight, fixed and variable overhead and other site operating costs.
  • Manage inventory levels, assess inventory valuations, and ensure accurate inventory reporting including comprehensive analysis of inventory levels, excess and obsolete inventory, inventory cycle counting and adjustments, inter-company profit in inventory, and other reserves. Ensure accuracy of the physical inventory and investigate / explain book to physical adjustments.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard plant assets and ensure compliance with company policies, rules, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic initiatives, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to management.
  • Coordinate audits and work with auditors to facilitate the audit process and address any findings.
  • Lead a team of financial professionals at the site, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
  • Utilize ERP, warehouse management systems and other financial software to streamline processes and enhance data accuracy.
  • Assess and improve financial processes, manage working capital, and track capital expenditures.
  • Assess risks associated with site operations and implement appropriate risk-mitigation activities.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of prior experience in finance / accounting role(s).
  • A CPA, CMA, or MBA is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial systems, general ledger, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis is required.
  • Experience with internal and external audit procedures and processes.
  • Continuous improvement orientation.
