The Sonnenalp is looking to hire a Sr. Sales Manager. This is position will close on September 28th, 2024.

Wage:

$85,000-$95,000 annual salary, a possible bonus of up to 10% of salary, plus the commission program below:

2% on actual group room revenue booked by the Sr. Sales Manager with Thursday-Sunday patterns. 3% on actual group revenue booked by Sr. Sales Manager with Sunday-Thursday patterns. This includes attrition collected on guest rooms.

Typical Schedule:

The typical schedule is Monday through Friday and the workday is from 8:30am to 5pm with a half hour lunch break. Weekends and holidays may be required at times based on business travel and groups in-house.

Primary Purpose of Position:

Responsible for the development, solicitation, negotiation and coordination of group related business in order to meet and exceed the group revenue and banquet revenue goals for the Sonnenalp Hotel. This role is pivotal in establishing and maintaining relationships with clients, maximizing sales opportunities, and promoting our luxurious offerings in one of the most picturesque locations in the Rocky Mountains.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Meet monthly and annual sales goals for group room revenue and catering revenue

Position the Sonnenalp as “Vail’s place to go” for unforgettable group experiences

Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve and exceed revenue targets for the hotel

Work closely with marketing, operations, and other departments to ensure cohesive strategies and seamless execution of events and promotions

Contact potential customers to develop & generate business for the hotel, responding to all leads for business in a timely manner

Organize sales activities to maximize results

Maximize all hotel outlets revenue streams including F&B outlets, spa and golf

This position is a "Results Oriented" position; the individual must have the ability to easily and willingly adapt to changes of policy, procedures, or work environment

Prepare and distribute internal/external correspondence such as proposals, contracts, site tours, and other documents in an accurate and timely manner

Respond to delegated inquiries and leads in a timely manner, while using SendSites

Input all inquiries into Delphi, monitor lost business reports

Develop market segments and solicit new customer relationships while maintaining existing relationships

Attend networking events and in market sales calls/tradeshows

Assist with marketing materials; sales flyers, videos, etc.

Takes leadership of interdepartmental communications and takes action to ensure a seamless transition from the contracting to the planning phase

Mentoring of sales and catering team members to ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction while meeting revenue goals

Additional Responsibilities:

Maintain accurate files and store contracts, proposals and communications in Delphi

Plan sales calls/events for 3-4 trips per year

Create turnovers for definite groups and collaborate with the Events team to ensure a seamless transition from contracting to event planning

Collaborates with the DOS on creating Group Sales budget

Additional duties as assigned

Recommended Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Hotel or Business Management, or equivalent experience required

English fluency required

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office

Prior experience with Delphi, Sendsites and HMS strongly preferred

Must have minimum five (5) years of experience as a Group Sales Manager in a hotel, preferably at a luxury, mountain resort

Strong understanding of luxury hotel markets and trends

Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills

Must be knowledgeable of operations in all other areas of the resort, but particularly in kitchen, front office, restaurants, and accounting.

Passion for hospitality and commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences

Typical Physical Demands:

Fast-paced position with a high level of responsibility for meeting production deadlines

High level of interaction with all hotel departments & clients

Ability to stand and walk for the full length of shift, up to 12 hours at one time

Working conditions and business levels will vary with season

Should be prepared to work long hours and a variable schedule, to include evenings, holidays and weekends

Able to perform various activities such as constant standing, walking, frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and squatting

Routinely handles objects weighing up to 25 lbs and on occasion may be expected to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs
