DoorDash USA
Engineering Manager, Drive - Restaurant Growth
DoorDash USA, San Francisco, California, United States, 94199
About the TeamDoorDash is looking for an Engineering Manager with strong product sense to oversee building out fulfillment strategies and merchant solutions, focused on Core Restaurant & Incumbent verticals of our Drive delivery-as-a-service business. This team is in charge of growing our core Restaurant business while making key bets to enable DoorDash to tap into more nascent areas to unlock incumbent areas often already having delivery solutions, like Pizza, Auto Parts, Catering and more.
About the RoleThis highly cross functional team will focus on both 0 to 1 initiatives targeting incumbent businesses, as well as scaling our mature Restaurant businesses, to help unlock new merchant growth opportunities and earnings opportunities for our Dashers. The team’s charter spans mobile, backend and some web components and involves problems like integrating with merchants, developing our fulfillment APIs and capabilities, improving our Dasher experience and pushing forward the frontier of our core fulfillment engines. The end goal is to do for last mile logistics what AWS did for cloud computing -- enable any third-party business to plug into our platform and have their items delivered, on-demand, anywhere in their city.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
Lead and grow a team of exceptional backend and client-side engineers delivering end-to-end engineering solutions
Collaborate with Product Managers, Business leaders, and key stakeholders to determine the team's roadmap and vision, and manage execution against that roadmap
Provide architectural guidance and professional development for a team of 8+
Encourage innovation, teamwork, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, and outside-of-the-box thinking
Oversee the hiring process for your team, in partnership with recruiting, to grow a diverse and inclusive team
We're excited about you because you have…
BS, M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or related field
3+ years of experience in people management leading full-stack teams (backend, web, & mobile) of 8+ engineers
8+ years of industry experience
Extensive experience as an engineer in a fast-paced, product-focused development environment
Experience with distributed system design, system scaling, and performance optimization
Hands-on leadership and strong product intuition
Humility - willing to get into the details and open to feedback
Growth mindset - you're eager to expand your skill set and excited to carve out your career path in a hyper-growth setting
Adaptability, resiliency, and ability to thrive in ambiguity - things can change quickly, and you'll need to help the team evolve
