Career Opportunities with German Marshall Fund of the United StatesThe HR Officer is responsible for contributing to a variety of human resources functions, including but not limited to recruitment, professional development, performance management, and compliance. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.Responsibilities
Recruitment and Onboarding:
Collaborate with HR colleagues and hiring managers to understand skills and competencies required for open positions and proactive sourcing of candidates. Participate in evolving refinement to onboarding and conduct new employee onboarding.Performance Management:
Engage with HR colleagues on implementation of performance management, goal setting and performance rewards systems and policies.Compliance:
Monitor and advise on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records. Engage with European office managers to develop increasing knowledge of labor laws in our European locations.Professional Development:
Identify training needs and other professional development opportunities and activities to enhance staff skills and performance; coordinate implementation of professional development programs.Benefits Administration:
Assist with the administration, including documentation and communication of employee benefits programs in all locations. Assist with analysis and oversight of European office benefits to ensure accurate administration, recordkeeping and equitability across the organization.HR Projects:
Participate in HR projects and initiatives that support organizational goals.HR systems, tools, policies and practices:
Perform tasks to administer human resource programs related to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.Employee Relations:
Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate HR staff.Knowledge and Skills Needed
5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist role or similar position.Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and regulations.Excellent communication skills especially precision in written and verbal communication.Demonstrated skills exercising sound judgement, integrity, professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.Strong organizational and time management skills.Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.Strong skills setting and managing priorities and exceptional attention to detail.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.Education
