For a complete description of our benefits for this position, please visit our website.The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences within the UW School of Medicine currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Consultant.The Addictions, Drug & Alcohol Institute (ADAI) is a multidisciplinary research institute in the University of Washington School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. The Institute’s mission is to advance research, policy, and practice to improve the lives of individuals and communities affected by alcohol and drug use and addiction.The primary goal of the WA State Community Drug Checking Network (CDCN) is to improve individual and population health, providing insights into the contents of the local drug market. The role requires an understanding of and experience in statistical analyses and database management.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Collection for Analysis (30%):Support the design, use, and manipulation of large participant survey and chemical analysis databases for data analyses.In partnership with the CEDEER team, develop and operationalize detailed statistical analysis plans to achieve project goals.Comprehend and interpret complex data files.Complete complex statistical analysis of data using R (preferred), SAS, or STATA or other comparable statistical software.Data Management (40%):Generate database queries/reports.Proactively manage databases and acquired data, ensure accuracy of data and participate in quality control activities.Serve as a liaison between the project team and data sources to communicate data needs and facilitate data delivery.Assess and analyze project aims and milestone goals and provide input in the development of appropriate work timelines based on available data.Other duties as assigned.Data Dissemination (30%):Create, update, and manage online data visualizations for ongoing and ad hoc analyses.Design, test, and implement methods and formats for data reporting.Lead and co-author reports and manuscripts.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Epidemiology, Health Services, Public Policy, Social Work, or related field AND at least 2 years’ experience in a related area or equivalent with at least one year of experience with data management, analysis, visualization, and report/manuscript authoring OR equivalent education and experience.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Experience with database management.Demonstrated ability to participate productively in interdisciplinary research teams.Strong quantitative aptitude and ability to interpret complex analytic quantitative information.Experience with Tableau or similar online data visualization application.Familiarity with HTML.Experience with scientific writing and interest in making significant content contributions to manuscripts and presentations.Ability to work effectively with all partners and team members.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Strong sense of focus and attention to detail.Demonstrated organizational skills, self-motivation, flexibility, strong communication skills.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Health Services, Public Policy, Social Work, or related field.At least one year of experience with secondary analysis from existing large datasets.Experience working with harm reduction programs or directly with people who use drugs.Experience working with epidemiological, public health, health care, or substance use data.Experience in statistical analysis.Experience with R (preferred), SAS, STATA, or other statistical programming language.Application Process:
