E.A. Fischione Instruments, an innovator in the field of microscopy and nanotechnology, is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Controller to oversee our accounting operations. The Controller will lead financial reporting, compliance, and the management of accounting staff, including Senior Accountants, and ensure the integrity of accounting information by establishing quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
Key responsibilities
Manage all aspects of accounting, billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analysesMaintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and timeliness of all financial reportingOversee payments of all accounts and ensure all accounts are paid on timeEnsure that periodic bank reconciliations are completedMaintain the chart of accountsInventory control and optimizationCost accounting to ensure accurate product costing and sufficient gross marginsEnsure all support related to the financial statements is properly maintainedSupervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases, and financial softwareAssign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracyReview monthly results and provide management with monthly variance analysisManage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and report significant budget differences to managementMaintain costing system to ensure accurate costing of products and projectsProvide financial analyses and models as needed, specifically capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiationsWork with the management team to move the company forwardQualifications
5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experienceCPA or CMA preferredExperience working with business environments outside of the U.S. is desirableThorough knowledge of accounting principles and proceduresExperience with creating financial statements and financial reportingStrong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)Expert user of accounting software and Microsoft ExcelEducationBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
