POSITIONS SUPERVISED:

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Assumes responsibility for the psychiatric care and treatment of clients in the MHA Counseling Center. Evaluates medical and psychosocial conditions. Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribed psychotropic medication and evaluating treatment referrals.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
:
1. Evaluates patients by interviewing patient, family, and other persons; conduction examinations; observing behaviors; reviewing medical history and related documents; ordering laboratory tests and evaluating results.
2. Develops treatment plans by determining nature and extent of cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral disorders; establishing treatment goals and methodologies.
3. Treats patients by utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discussing progress toward goals with patients; providing instructions; monitoring effect of medications; supervising staff provision of services.
4. Maintains interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress; consulting and collaborating with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
5. Provides services in order to maintain required productivity/billing standards.
6. Meets deadlines and ensures accuracy of various report/paperwork, mileage records, and electronic timesheets.
7. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of service provision. Completes progress notes in a manner that individualizes each note, reflecting appropriate interventions and progress towards goals.
8. Submits required progress notes/billing information in a timely manner as per guidelines and contracts.
9. Directs, supervises, and consults with professional staff in the implementation of treatment plans and care of clients under his/her care.
10. Provides psychiatric consultation, evaluation and treatment as required.
11. Assists in the development and implementation of follow-up treatment plans for clients in the community.
12. Discharges clients and/or assists in the closing of cases on clients under his/her care in a timely manner.
13. Assists the Director in the development, evaluation and implementation of clinical programs.
14. Participates in the organization, meetings, and duties as required.
15. Assumes overall responsibility for the care rendered to clients under his/her care.
16. Maintains responsibility for safe client care using appropriate planning, implementation and evaluation procedures.
17. Maintains the confidential nature of client and business information.

1. Maintains acceptable overall attendance record, to include department staff meetings, agency meetings, and trainings as required. Ensures appropriate notification to supervisor for absences and ensures that work is covered. Flexible in work schedule when needed.
2. Exhibits appropriate level of technical knowledge for the position.
3. Produces quantity of work necessary to meet job requirements.
4. Works well with a team, keeps others informed of information needed. Treats others with respect, maintaining a spirit of cooperation.
5. Maintains effective and professional verbal and written interactions with peers, customers, supervisors and other staff. Uses diplomacy and tact in dealing with difficult situations or people. Demonstrates effective listening skills. Is receptive to constructive feedback.
6. Demonstrates the ability and willingness to handle new assignments, changes in procedures and business requirements. Identifies what needs to be done and takes appropriate action.
7. Completes assigned work, meets deadlines without reminders/follow-up from supervisor or others.
8. Performs work conscientiously with a high degree of accuracy.
9. Meets goals and objectives as mutually agreed upon during last performance review (if applicable).
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
:
Physician licensed in State of Kansas, Board certification in psychiatry, Licensed with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of multi-disciplinary mental health treatment methods.Knowledge of psychiatric treatment in assigned areas.Ability to evaluate, develop and implement plans in the care of clients.Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team, courts and a variety of referral sources.Ability to direct multi-disciplinary professional staff in the implementation of client care and treatment.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff and the public.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Ability to work the required hours of the position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

* Standing or sitting for extended periods of time
* Manual dexterity for administering injections
* Typing/data entry, writing
* Lifting/carrying up to 30 pounds
* Driving for purpose of community mobility
* Bending/stooping
