The Psychiatrist provides ongoing psychiatric care to residents/clients with mental or emotional problems. This position will provide routine and emergency assessments, diagnostic clarification, treatment recommendations, coordination of care pre-admission and post-discharge, parents/guardians', and clients' education, on a weekly basis, of assigned clients.
Essential Duties: Oversees Psychiatric care of clients. Attends weekly Treatment Team Meetings. Serves as liaison with staff Medical Director, Clinical Director, and other treatment team members. Documents patient encounters through weekly progress notes in the EMR, as well as any other encounters (safety assessments, phone calls with parents, medication consents). Assists with utilization reviews for clients and providing cross-coverage to Psychiatry team cases when required. Maintains excellent communication with other members of the clinical team, outpatient providers and family members. Completes discharge recommendation assessments as part of collaborative discharge summaries within 24 hrs. Works in a collaborative environment including maintaining requirements of Physician Collaborative Agreements, if applicable.
Qualifications
Doctorate in Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or psychiatric APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) required. Board Certified preferred. Experience in child/adolescent and/or adult psychiatry required. Licensed in the State for which you are applying required. Experience in a residential setting preferred. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned unit. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in Newport Healthcare's policies and procedures.
