Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School is a distinguished, independent law school located in Downtown Brooklyn, New York. The Law School is searching for a Director of Financial Aid to join our team. The Law School's size, vibrant employee and student population, and commitment to training the next generation of lawyers and promoting social justice, will offer a candidate the opportunity to develop and diversify practical skills and participate firsthand in operating a successful educational institution.

Reporting to the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid, the Director of Financial Aid at Brooklyn Law School oversees all aspects of financial aid operations, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and optimizing scholarship awarding processes. This role plays a crucial part in supporting student access to education through effective financial aid management and strategic oversight.

Responsibilities include:Manage the Office of Financial Aid, including a team of three employees.Oversight of BLS Connect Financial Aid Pages and communications with applicants and students.Update financial aid information on Brooklaw.edu annually.Ensure all Department of Education/COD/SAIG/Title IV Participation processes and regulations are followed.Administer BLS Scholarship Awarding, Merit Scholarship Renewal, and Need-based Grants.Oversee the Earn-Back Program (managed by Academic Dean)Manage outside scholarships, including partnerships like AccessLex.Manage Federal Student Loans, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and efficient processing and disbursement, in collaboration with the Associate Director.Process financial aid and loan regulatory reporting to federal, state and accrediting authorities, working with internal finance departments and budgeting processes.Oversee FWS/Public Service Grants (managed by Associate Director)Oversee the BLS LRAP Program (managed by Associate Director)Required:

A bachelor's degree is required. A master's degree in a related field such as higher education administration, finance, or business administration preferred but not required.At least 5 years of experience in financial aid administration, ideally at the graduate or professional level within an educational institution.Familiarity with Department of Education regulations and financial aid compliance.Familiarity with budgeting and reporting to federal, state and accrediting authorities.Familiarity with campus student information systems, Colleague is preferred.Strong communication, customer service, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Must be an eager learner, extremely detail-oriented, accurate, and organized.Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).Preferred:

Experience in a higher education setting is preferred.Knowledge of admissions processes and procedures is preferred.
