Position SummaryThe primary purpose of this position is to spend 75-100% effort working in the inpatient setting at UNC Women's Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC, covering Labor and Delivery, gynecologic consults and emergencies, with any remaining time assigned by the Division Director. The primary focus of the hospitalists will be the clinical care of general obstetrical and gynecologic inpatients at UNC. Work duties will include twelve to fourteen 12-hour shifts per month (including nights, weekends and holidays), with administrative time averaging 8 hours per week for other academic endeavors. Monthly requirements may also include 2 OB volume back-up calls from home. The person in this position will also teach medical students, OB-GYN residents and fellows in sub-specialty training.

Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsEducational requirements include a MD or DO degree and completion of a 4-year ACGME approved residency in OB-GYN.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and ExperienceCandidates with previous obstetric and gynecologic hospitalist experience or training, a track record of strong clinical competence and independent practice will be given special consideration. Experience in an academic medical center is preferred, but not required.

Special Physical/Mental RequirementsAbility to meet technical standards for a general obstetrician and gynecologist, including night shifts and extended shifts (24 hours).
