Minimum Qualifications:

Applicant should be highly qualified as a speech pathologist. The position requires strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. The position requires the ability to deal with multiple tasks, computer competence, and interpersonal skills. The teacher also, needs to be flexible and cooperative.

Goal:

The speech/communication professional is a certified position that supports the success of students with language and speech disabilities. This employee conducts comprehensive evaluations, carries out curriculum and treatment goals in order to practice and reinforce taught skills to meet the needs of individual students or in a small group setting. This staff member is also involved in providing interventions, as well as providing student support.

Representative Duties & Responsibilities:

Carries out individual and small group lesson plans for speech and language skills and works on individual education objectives.Communicates well with the general and special education teacher.Communicates well with students with speech and language disorders to help them improve their overall communication skills.Uses any technology the student may need such as augmentative communication devices and be willing to learn to program them.Carries out interventions and collects data for Multi-Tiered Support System.Completes required IEPs, timelines, and reports accurately and in a timely manner.Complies with school, system, state and federal regulations and policies, including the PSC Code of Ethics, as related to job requirements.Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and materials.Develops and implements appropriate instructional activities to increase student achievement.Completes reports, documentation, duties and other assignments in a prompt and professional manner.Incorporates the use of technology into instruction in an appropriate manner.Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in the use of other computer applications as applicable to job responsibilities.Assesses and encourages student progress by promoting engagement, monitoring student progress, responding to adequate and inadequate performances and showing support of students in an appropriate manner.Facilitates home-school communication by holding conferences, calling, and sending written communications.Adheres to local, state and federal procedures for processing evaluation referrals.Conducts individualized comprehensive speech/language evaluations and provides a written report for the parents and IEP committee.Works cooperatively with general educators and administrators in developing a speech schedule.Takes a leadership role in the development of the speech/language eligibility report and in preparing the individual education plan (IEP).Adheres to local, state, and federal timelines.Serves as a consultant to Student Support Team and others in matters pertaining to MTSS groups involving speech.Acts in a professional manner and assumes responsibility for the total school program and safety of students.Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance.Participates in Medicaid billing, data collection, record keeping and documentation as part of our Medicaid program.Ability to be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.Constant and consistent ability to supervise students required.Essential Duties:
