Summary

LittleStar ABA Therapy is looking for a motivated and energetic Recreational Therapist to provide services to families on the Medicaid Waiver in surrounding areas. Services will occur in the client's home or community based facilities

Condition of Employment

Must successfully pass the initial and updated criminal history, background, and record checks, which includes driving history checks.

Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as provided by LittleStar, where physical distance cannot be attained as needed.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Conducts recreational therapy assessment to determine appropriate goals to be listed on the PCISP

Creates and implements approved treatment plan based on recreation therapy assessment.

Tracks data per session and reports progress on quarterly reports submitted to the treatment team.

Implements appropriate response to high-risk areas as outlined in each individual’s high-risk plan. Provides and maintains an environment free of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. Reports any incidents or suspicions to a supervisor immediately.

Maintains client and family confidentiality per LittleStar policy and HIPAA Privacy Rule Regulations.

Completes and submits client billing as directed and in a timely manner.

Completes and submits additional paperwork in a timely manner (time clock exception forms, incident reports, temperature tracking forms, etc.)

Refrains from excessive absenteeism.

Communicates time off with families/clients, and Waiver Services Director.

Communicates with Waiver Services Director regarding all developments, problems, or concerns as needed and requests feedback.

Responds appropriately and professionally to feedback.

Attends and participates in team meetings for clients on caseload.

Works collaboratively with other members of the client’s treatment team and family.

Respects the property of LittleStar ABA Therapy and the family.

Acts as a positive role model for all staff, families, and clients working with LittleStar.

Maintains a professional relationship with parents and other family members.

Adheres to all LittleStar policies and procedures, including minimum billing requirements per month.

Educational Qualifications and Skills

Hold a minimum bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Recreational Therapy.

Hold CTRS certification designated by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).

Must possess or be able to obtain CPR and First aid certification annually and perform, as necessary.

Possess and maintain a clear criminal record per Medicaid Waiver regulation requirements.

Experience working with individuals with ID/DD.

A positive team player and energetic professional.

Stron g organizational and time management skills along with the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Good judgment and creative thinking skills.

Be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This position is community-based so sessions will occur in the client’s home or community-based facilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk, climb stairs, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Travel

Sessions may occur in the home and/or in the community. Therapists may be required to transport clients into the community depending on the targeted goals.
