Description:JOB PURPOSE:Directs and supports the day to day operational policies, objectives and initiatives of multiple Anesthesia departments across the system as assigned. Implements and oversees operational activities and programs to ensure the attainment of the business plans. Develops, organizes, implements and evaluates department operations in accordance with Anesthesia and hospital policies and procedures. Ensures that each department maintains efficient operations and works collaboratively with service line leadership to manage overall operations of assigned departments and specialties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Ensures that each Anesthesia department follows System Anesthesia policies and procedures; adheres to all Piedmont Healthcare Corporation policies and procedures and local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations; and maintains all DNV standards.2. Participates in the process of interviewing, hiring, training, appraising, handling corrective actions, addressing complaints and resolving problems of managers.3. Monitors the submission of timely, accurate and complete reports and information to appropriate offices.4. Works with local physicians and managers to ensure the maximization of professional services reimbursement.5. Manage personnel and promote cohesiveness within departments, resolves conflicts and performance issues with Providers, serves as liaison between the departments and other clinical and administrative components of Anesthesia, and intervenes as necessary if problems or disputes continue.6. Researches and reviews reports for unusual operational practices, remains current with coding and insurance practices so as to be able to provide a resource to managers concerning requirements.7. Serves as the primary liaison with Piedmont Anesthesia departments to improve efficiencies, simplify procedures, and increase productivity.8. Prepares reports and analysis reflecting progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions for improvements or course corrections.9. Meets regularly with the physicians, APPs and managers to bring them up-to-date on activities and new policies and to discuss problems and opportunities.10. Partners with specialty Chiefs to identify opportunities for program growth and system expansion.11. Partners with executive leadership to develop proformas for provider growth within assigned departments or as part of acquisitions at new facilities.12. Oversee physician and APP recruitment and assists with provider retention efforts.13. Effective coordination with employed and independent Anesthesia practices to identify resource needs in an appropriate time period.14. Ability to maintain and retain a deployable provider pool, to effectively allocate and coordinate provider resources as needed at local sites.15. Responsible for contract management of shared clinical providers and service locations for employed providers and contracted providers.16. Develop, implement and monitor department budgets including analyzing financial impact of changes, forecasts and expenditures.17. Evaluate provider productivity and identify and implement ways to improve when necessary.18. Meet regularly with Anesthesia Service Line Leadership to provide updates on Anesthesia such as practice strategy, financial performance and quality metrics while acting as liaison between Physician Enterprise and each facility.Qualifications:MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:Bachelors degree from a recognized college or university in business administration, healthcare administration or a closely related field is required.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Five (5) years of progressively responsible work experience in strategic healthcare operations or supervising or managing a physician office practice is required.Six (6) years of progressively responsible work experience in a healthcare practice management setting may be substituted for the educational requirement.MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:None.ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:Prefer previous experience managing Anesthesia departments.
