JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Office of Clinical Research (OCR) in the Department of Surgery seeks a Surgery Research Portfolio Manager to support surgical clinical research. The Surgery Research Portfolio Manager manages the activation, maintenance, and closure of clinical trials and is knowledgeable about clinical research principles and specific study guidelines. The Surgery Research Portfolio Manager must have superior oral and written communication skills as they interface with investigators, clinical research staff, study sponsors, and other collaborators to identify, collect, and disseminate patient and protocol information. Strong project management, organizational, and critical thinking skills are required for success in the complex, fast-paced, highly regulated, and continually changing surgical clinical research environment. The Surgery Research Portfolio Manager must be able to handle multiple competing projects simultaneously while working independently using initiative and good judgment. Responsibilities: Plans and coordinates the administrative, operational, outreach and promotional activities related to research studies that may be collaborative and independent. Serves as a subject matter expert. 20% Coordinates the daily activities and contracts related to one or more research program(s) 5% Assists in the development, coordination, and facilitation of trainings and workshops for internal and external audiences to disseminate research program developments and information 25% Plans, develops, and implements processes and protocols to support research aims 25% Serves as a unit liaison and subject matter expert among internal and external stakeholder groups, collaborates across disciplines and functional areas, provides program information, and promotes the accomplishments and developments of scholars and research initiatives 15% Monitors program budget(s) and approves unit expenditures 10% Develops policies, procedures, and institutional agreements on behalf of the program Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison.
