The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than7million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.

What will I bedoing?
ü Oversee the entire grant process from pre-award to post-award, including tracking deadlines, submitting required reports, and maintaining accurate records of all grant-related activities.
ü Monitor the progress of funded projects to ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions, and prepare timely reports for funders on the outcomes and impact of the grants received.
ü Work closely with internal teams, including finance, program staff, and senior leadership, to gather the necessary information and ensure that all grant proposals and reports accurately reflect the organization's needs and achievements.
ü Continuously research and identify new grant opportunities that align with the organization's mission and strategic goals.
ü Develop compelling grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documents, tailored to the specific requirements of various funding sources such as foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
ü Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive grant strategy to maximize funding opportunities and build long-term relationships with funders.
KeyQualifications
ü A minimum of 3 years of experience in grant management, proposal writing, or a related field, with a successful track record of securing funding from a variety of sources.
ü Demonstrated ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals and reports.
ü Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
ü High level of accuracy and attention to detail in preparing grant applications, budgets, and reports.
ü Strong research and analytical skills to identify funding opportunities and align them with the organization's goals and programs.
ü Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
ü Proficiency in using grant management software, databases, and standard office applications such as Microsoft Office.
Do you have...
ü Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
ü 5years of experienceworking with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties
Preferred Qualifications
ü A Master's degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field is preferred.
ü Experience with post-award grant monitoring, including compliance and reporting.
ü Familiarity with the specific funding landscape relevant to the organization's mission (e.g., economic development, small business lending and technical assistance, broadband, housing, healthcare, workforce development, etc.).
ü Certified Grant Writer (CGW) or similar certification is a plus.
ü Experience in broader fundraising efforts, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, or capital campaigns.
ü Experience in preparing and managing grant budgets.
ü Established relationships with local, regional, or national funders.
