Description

Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is a community-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Chicagoland's diverse immigrant and refugee communities. Established in 1981, CMAA is a cornerstone of the "Asia on Argyle" corridor of the Uptown Neighborhood of Chicago with a satellite office in Elgin, IL, providing programs to serve our community across generations. We offer after-school, summer camp, and mentoring programs for young people. For adults, we provide case management and social services, education including English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, job preparation and placement services, and immigration and citizenship case assistance. We connect older adults to in-home care support and community enrichment through our Golden Age Club. Finally, we support entrepreneurs and small businesses as the only AAPI-led Small Business Development Center in Illinois.

Job Description

CMAA is looking for a mission-driven and detail-oriented Social Services Manager, who reports directly to the Executive Director. This individual will supervise the department's daily activities and ensure that staff provide services to assist immigrants and low-income families in navigating various social services.

The Manager's objectives include ensuring policies are followed and putting processes in place for a growing team to operate more effectively. The Manager also manages employees and workflow to help ensure they can work effectively and efficiently to maintain a target level of productivity.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Oversee employees' work, provide regular supervision and support, and evaluate their performanceDevelop and implement specific annual departmental goals and objectivesDevelop strategic plans for the department and design programsSupervise program activities to ensure compliance with all service contract requirements, including the submission of accurate and timely program and financial reports to funding agenciesPerform regular needs assessments to evaluate program effectiveness and ensure services meet client and community needsMake personnel recommendations regarding staffing decisionsCompile monthly centralized metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) reportsAttend monthly agency-wide Directors and Managers meetings for program implementations and updatesProactively review and maintain program budgetOther duties as assignedRequirements

B.A. Degree required: A Master's degree a plus but not requiredTwo (2) years experience in program administration and development of social servicesBilingual (Chinese/English) skills preferredExperience with immigrant and refugee community/clientele and Asian culture preferredExperience working with Microsoft, Google Suite, and SalesforceExcellent communication, organization, and writing skills requiredWork Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.The position is based in the Uptown neighborhood in Chicago but is required to spend one day a week in the Elgin office. Reliable transportation or access to public transportation for travel is required.Physical Demands

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This could require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.
