Established in 2023, CommuniCare+OLE is the result of a union of two health centers with a deep roots in their respective communities and reputations for providing high-quality primary care to all, regardless of insurance or ability to pay: OLE Health of Napa and Solano Counties and CommuniCare Health Centers of Yolo County. JOB

SUMMARY:

The Pediatrician is responsible for providing medical diagnosis, treatment services and managing quality health care services to patients under age 21 while working closely with other healthcare staff in a team approach.

KNOWLEDGE OF WORK

Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care

Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise

Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage

Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise

Knowledge of Electronic Health Records and related computer systems

Ability to collaborate with mutual providers of treatment in mental health and substance use settings as well as work well with the primary care team

Ability to prioritize and multi-task and have strong time management skills

Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress

Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise

Ability to communicate in Spanish

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides the following health care services for patients: assessment/evaluation, diagnosis, treatment/prescribing, planning and education

Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions

Reviews and manages patient information including labs, diagnostic images, prescription refills, outside consultation notes, previous medical records, specialist referrals, etc.

Trains and supervises medical students and residents, as appropriate

Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care services as appropriate

Prioritizes patient care throughout the day

Provides acute triage over the phone or with walk in patients

Performs various in office procedures as directed

Documents all appropriate information in electronic health record system

Responds to messages and relay information to patients and other external sources as needed

Completes various medical related forms as needed

Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as appropriate

May participate in and collaborate with staff/teams on various support-related functions including quality assurance, care team development, system optimization, empanelment, policy and procedure development, etc.

Trains and supervises medical students and residents, as appropriate

Documents care in the medical record and appropriately complete encounter forms for each patient encounter

Maintains hospital privileges, licensure, CPR, and DEA certification, as well as other certifications and licenses as required

Functions as a member of the medical team, including maintaining appropriate communications with other team members and attendance at agency meetings

Attends medical staff meetings and general staff meetings

Maintains a level of professional and ethical behavior

Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1.MD or DO, licensed in California, with Board Certification.

2.Must have or obtain current California medication furnishing license.

3.Must have or obtain current DEA License.

4.Must maintain CEUs as required for certification renewals.

5.Current Basic Life Support CPR certification required.

6.Experience in a community healthcare center preferred.

7.Strong verbal and written communication skills; Bilingual (English/Spanish) language preferred.

8.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required; must have ability to handle difficult patients.

9.Must have strong time management skills, ability to prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment.

10.Excellent problem-solving skills required.

11.Computer and data entry skills required; electronic health record system preferred.
