About the role: The Category Manager applies a thorough and analytical approach to developing and executing sourcing strategies designed to reduce total costs, enhance supplier value contributions, and secure a sustainable competitive edge in key sourcing categories. This role collaborates with divisional stakeholders to align and optimize sustainable sourcing strategies for the sub-assemblies category as well as secondary operations, and will lead a category team of cross-functional partners in Supplier Quality and Supplier Engineering to execute project deliverables, while ensuring product quality. NOTE: This is a hybrid position, which will require you to work on-site at least three days a week. Your responsibilities will include: Gathering market intelligence and trends for the commodity and sub-commodities Identifying all suitable suppliers per commodity and region per sample RFQ to develop comprehensive knowledge and supplier database Guiding respective internal leads through a holistic and systematic category approach to material and supplier selection and management; identify insourcing and outsourcing opportunities Managing strategic supplier relationships according to the commodity strategy and strategic differentiators for each supplier Analyzing data and developing tools to manage the commodity including should-cost models, COGS models, etc. Collaborating with stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks within the commodity Promoting continuous value improvement for all aspects of quality, service, and cost with assigned supply base Managing supplier performance and identifying Value Improvement Programs to improve the total cost of ownership (TCO) Establishing an optimal balance between collaborative engagement and competitive pressure with supply base to ensure the maximum value is realized, including negotiations on supplier contracts and value improvements Overseeing the annual budget process for assigned suppliers and resolving systematic issues Establishing early involvement to achieve development performance goals, support project timelines, and manage product cost Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, business or a related field Minimum 7yrs of experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain management, or supplier relationship management Experience with MS Office Excel and other applications (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, MS Project etc.) Ability to travel up to 20% Preferred qualifications: Master's Degree or professional certification (i.e. CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, etc.) Experience sourcing plastics, resins, and/or chemicals in a manufacturing environment Experience working in medical device or similar regulated industry Strong decision-making and negotiation skills, ability to influence internal and external teams Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete projects Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate effectively with individuals on all levels Strong critical thinking and analytical skills: process and results-oriented Detail oriented with strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize competing responsibilities effectively Requisition ID:589274 As a leader in medical science for more than 40 years, we are committed to solving the challenges that matter most - united by a deep caring for human life.
