JOB TITLE: Student Support Specialist
REPORTS TO: Building Principal & Director of Special Ed
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:The Student Support Specialist will work with the Administrators, Special Education Staff, and Students to provide support in all aspects of Special Education in the school setting. Behavioral support, training, state and federal compliance, and direct student support, are just a few of the areas that Student Support Specialists lend their expertise in the school setting.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Co-facilitate RTI process; serve as liaison to SSS committee for testing decisionsCollaborate in arranging/maintaining/training staff on mindfulness and sensory space (with OT/PT as needed)First point of contact for all Move-in IEP information; review; assemble team; schedule meeting with parents; help facilitateServe on the building crisis teamTrain sped/gen ed teachers on IIEP-related issues and ensure compliance of services and accommodationsFacilitate ACR schedules based on initial eligibility dates to assist with coordinating between all participating providers (exception SI/LI only)Provide consult services as needed for students with behavior/social-emotional needs (observation, individual, or small group)Provide consult services as needed for students with ASD needsComplete any school-related duties as specified by the building principalMonitor IEPs for compliance issues and needsWork in partnerships with building administrators to develop behavior intervention for gen ed students that are not IEP related as part of RTIServe on 504 committee as neededEnsure Special Education documentation maintained properly in permanent filesMaintain central school document of needs arising from ACR meetings to serve as compliance checkFacilitate IEP meetings as needed and assist with note-taking/moderating/question specific, etcAssist with scheduling questions with Resource teachers regarding maintaining compliance of IEP service minutesFacilitate review of accommodations from each Resource Teacher for state-testing needs to ensure accuracyHelp moderate IREAD or ILEARN sessions as neededFacilitate FBA process and documentationFacilitate formation of BIPs and insertion into IEPsOrganize and facilitate PLC meetings with SPED staffFacilitate communication between all providers within the school buildingSupport school staff for program implementation of student's IEP.Provides direct to students to support their behavior needs.QUALIFICATIONS:
5 years of teacher experienceLicensure: Any Special Education License, Rules 2022, REPA/REPA 3 or equivalent for Rules 46-47Preferred Requirements:
Experience working with students with behavioral needsAbility to communicate effectively with both adults and students.Demonstrates a sincere desire to aid all students.
