Primus Aerospace is a leading manufacturing partner to aerospace, defense & space OEMs / Primes & Tier I suppliers. The company specializes in producing high-tolerance, complex geometry parts; machined out of standard and exotic metals. Primus works directly with all major aerospace manufacturers (e.g., Boeing, Lockheed, Northrop) to provide components to mission critical civilian and defense programs.

Job Purpose: The Assembly Technician is responsible for set up, operation, assembling or tend grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, or buff, hone, or polish metal per customer requirements. Duties and tasks are varied but standardized. The technician will work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature where the ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. This is an entry level position that is ideal for someone wanting to start a career in manufacturing and aerospace.

Hours: Monday - Friday 7am - 3:30pm

Pay Range: $20.00 - $23.00/hour

Technician Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and productsGrind, sand, clean, or polish objects or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and power toolsMaintain inventory of product in work stationsRework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changesPerform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety proceduresVerify quality of finished workpieces by inspecting them, comparing them to templates, measuring their dimensions, or testing them in working machineryMove controls to adjust, start, or stop equipment during grinding and polishing processesRemove completed workpieces from equipment or work tables, using hand tools, and place workpieces in containersMeasure and mark equipment, objects, or parts to ensure grinding and polishing standards are metTransfer equipment, objects, or parts to specified work areas, using moving devices.Trim, scrape, or deburr objects or parts, using chisels, scrapers, and other hand tools and equipmentTumble parts as needed per customer requirementsRepair and maintain equipment, objects, or parts, using hand toolsFile grooved, contoured, and irregular surfaces of metal objects, such as metalworking dies and machine parts, to conform to templates, other parts, layouts, or blueprint specificationsMark defects, such as knotholes, cracks, and splits, for repairStudy blueprints or layouts to determine how to lay out workpieces or saw out templatesSharpen abrasive grinding tools, using machines and hand toolsLoad and adjust workpieces onto equipment or work tables, using hand toolsRecord product and processing data on specified formsSelect files or other abrasives, according to materials, sizes and shapes of workpieces, amount of stock to be removed, finishes specified, and steps in finishing processesApply solutions and chemicals to equipment, objects, or parts, using hand toolsEnsure a consistent process is followed that maintains 100%-part qualityCheck parts to ensure all operations have been completed properlyClean downdraft tables and floors daily. Requirements

Soldering experience; Certification of IPC-610 and J-STD-001 - REQUIREDHand Soldering skills (through hole and surface mount components)Eligible or already have security clearance (highly desirable)The ability to quickly move your hand, your hands together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.Ability to use hand tools including deburring blades, scraper handles, Dremel's, rotary brushes, sanders and grinders.The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of both hands to grasp, manipulate or assemble very small objects.Quick response (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.Good hand dexterity and coordination is necessary as products and components are typically very small.The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while standing.The ability to time your movements or the movement of a piece of equipment in anticipation of changes in the speed and/or direction of a moving object or scene.Follow all safety requirements and policies.Ability to stand for long periods of time on concrete floors.The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing.The ability to make fast, simple, repetitive movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
