Job Description
The Activities Therapist will provide a comprehensive therapeutic recreation program to many of our patients. Responsible for the following;
Coordination and provision of recreation/leisure activities to the patients on the Inpatient Unit..Inservice / teaching to medical, nursing and ancillary services to enhance patient participation, thereby, increasing patient's cooperation with difficult medical regimes.Assess, plan and provide system enhancements as required; to best meet the needs of the hospital patient population.Participate in Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement activities both within the department and within the hospital.Manage the activities of the volunteers who participate in this program.Liaison to hospital audiences, inc.Provide program development and statistical reports.Minimum Qualifications1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by eighteen credits in Recreation, Physical Education, Dance, Fine Arts, Applied Arts (including Therapy) and twelve credits in Psychology, Social Psychology, Group Work, Group Dynamics and /or related field; or,2. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college and one year of full-time experience in planning, coordinating and supervising a recreation activities program in a hospital or health care or related facility.
