Job Summary:
The Legal Secretary for the Worker's Compensation Department will provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to attorneys and legal staff specializing in worker's compensation claims. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and a solid understanding of worker's compensation laws and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Support:
Provide high-level administrative support to attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and handling correspondence.Document Management:
Prepare, proofread, and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests. Ensure all documents are filed in compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.Client Communication:
Serve as a point of contact for clients, insurance adjusters, and other stakeholders. Manage client intake and maintain client files with accuracy and confidentiality.Case Management:
Assist with case preparation by organizing evidence, drafting reports, and preparing case summaries. Track case progress and manage deadlines for filings and court appearances.Billing and Records:
Maintain accurate billing records, process invoices, and manage expense reports. Ensure compliance with firm policies for client billing and accounting.Court Filings:
Prepare and file documents with the court, ensuring compliance with legal procedures and deadlines. Handle electronic filing systems and coordinate with court clerks.Administrative Tasks:
Manage office supplies, coordinate with vendors, and ensure the office operates smoothly. Handle incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or paralegal certification preferred.Minimum of 3 years of experience as a legal secretary, preferably in worker's compensation or personal injury law.Experience working in the case management system Litify a plus.Knowledge of worker’s compensation laws and regulations is a plus.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in an office environment.Sitting for extended periods.Ability to lift and carry files and office supplies up to 20 pounds.
