HELEN F. GRAHAM CANCER CENTER & RESEARCH INSTITUTE AT CHRISTIANACARE
The Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute (HFGCCRI) is seeking a full-time, fellowship-trained Breast Surgeon, experience preferred but not required. Candidates should demonstrate independent expertise in the management of benign breast disease as well as the surgical management of breast cancer. Strong interpersonal skills will facilitate collaboration with a multidisciplinary breast cancer team. Robust teaching skills are desired, as the candidate will serve as faculty in the training of a SSO Breast Surgical Oncology Fellow as well as general surgical residents and medical students. The surgeon will be a member of the Section of Breast Surgery and the Division of Surgical Oncology at the Cancer Center and will be joining 2 full-time, fellowship-trained breast surgeons in a well-established practice with APC support.
The HFGCCRI, a National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program, is part of Christiana Care Health System, one of the country's largest health care systems, ranking as the 18th leading hospital in the nation and 11th on the East Coast in terms of patient admissions. With more than 224,000 patient visits last year, the Graham Cancer Center is recognized as a national model for multidisciplinary cancer care and a top enroller in U.S. clinical research trials (National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program-NCORP).
Annually there are 3,400 newly diagnosed cancer patients of which 760 - 800 are breast cancers.The HFGCCRI houses the Cawley Center for Translational Cancer Research, Tissue Procurement Center, Gene Editing Institute, statewide High-Risk Family Cancer Registry with 9 full time genetic counselors, a virtual center of genomics/genetics, Society of Surgical Oncology breast surgery fellowship and medical oncology/hematology fellowship. A partnership with world-renowned scientists at the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia is opening new avenues to more quickly translate cancer science into cancer medicine.
