Technical ManagerABOUT THE POSITIONThe Technical Manager is responsible for providing direction, coordination, and management of blasting services throughout the LLC/Region in accordance with local or regional regulatory/government requirements and Austin Powder Company policies and procedures.The Technical Manager provides an extensive range of technical expertise and support throughout the LLC/Region to include technical competency and compliance training, analyzing blasting performance, and addressing blasting and product issues in order to continually improve operational safety and customer outcomes.The Technical Manager reports directly to the LLC/Regional President/GM.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESProvide advanced technical assistance to employees, and customers, to include mine planning, blast design, post-blast assessments, and blast optimization.Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by assuring regulatory compliance as well as compliance to all company policies and procedures.Conduct blast audits to ensure job site operational and regulatory/governmental procedures are accurately and uniformly implemented and all safety protocols are followed.Ability to be present on job sites throughout the LLC/Region, as required by the needs of the customer and discretion of management.Conduct Blaster training and assist in the certification of LLC/Regional personnel.Lead or participate in the investigation of blasting incidents to determine root cause and recommend corrective action.Ability to identify and implement all appropriate software and technologies.Develop and coordinate internal networks of expertise. Provide technical expertise both internally and externally.Support manufacturing objectives to improve and ensure continuing product quality.Thorough understanding of state and/or local governing agencies' requirements.Maintain routine contact with the explosives industry and relevant experts to be aware of regulatory and product issues that could have an impact on operations.Maintain knowledge of industry trends, competitive products, applications, and product development and technical advancements.Assist with the preparation of responses to RFP's.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEMust have acquired, as a minimum, the following formal education:Bachelors' or Associates degree, preferably in Mining.
