POSITIONSUMMARY:

The Coordinator of Standardized Patients assists the Director of StandardizedPatients in the recruitment, hiring, scheduling and training of standardizedpatients (SP) and provides support for all standardized patient-relatedschedules and activities for the Duquesne University College of OsteopathicMedicine (DUQCOM). This includes assistance with the Lived ExperienceParticipant (LEP) initiative. The coordinator of Standardized Patients workscollaboratively with the Simulation Center staff, DUQCOM faculty and staff onthe administration and implementation of standardized patient educationalactivities, to include event support, back-end coordination, data input andscheduling.

DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates, communicates, enter and extract software data and assignmentdetails for events involving standardized patient activities at DUQCOM andacross all involved parties.

Develops and implements accuratedetail tracking of individual SP abilities, schedules, and payroll data for theSPs and LEPs as needed for the medical school and other curricula.

Assists in the design and modificationof training protocols and implementation of events for the COM related tostandardized patient encounters, task training, hybrid simulation and othersimulation and clinical skill-related learning activities.

Assists in active learning andteaching principles and osteopathic principles and practices for medicalstudents across all 4 years.

Assists the Simulation Director intracking and documenting associated evaluation and assessment tools to measure studentcompetency and track outcomes.

Assists in implementation anddocumentation of formative and summative objective structured clinicalexaminations (OSCE) to measure student clinical knowledge and skills related tothe COM's program learning outcomes.

Assists in the training and monitoringthe performance of standardized patients to actively participate in theeducation of medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals.

Provides feedback to the Director ofSPs, and other staff to improve communication, organization, clarity ofbudgets, implementation and decision making in everyday functions.

Completes tasks pertaining toadministrative, payroll, training, scheduling, evaluation, and creativeactivities involving SPs to meet the educational needs of the COM.

Assists in the implementation andorganization of interprofessional standardized patient educational encountersin collaboration with COM and other healthcare professional faculty.

Assists the Director of SPs to ensure that the COM meets goals for recruitmentand consistent training of SPs, including a sufficient pool of SPs to meet theteaching, clinical exam, and OSCE needs. This includes recruiting and screeningSP candidates, responding to inquiries, managing the SP database, coordinating,and delivering all training sessions, and providing an assessment ofperformance and standards of reliability in feedback to SP employees.

Analyzes SP cases and determine whichSPs are most suitable and available for each case.

Collaborates with MS year - specificcoordinators to effectively schedule and communicate with students regardingall Sim/ SP experiences.

Maintains and updates current filesincluding standardized patient rosters, addresses, contact information, patientcharacteristics for education, etc.

Assists the Director of StandardizedPatients in the management, and maintenance of the payroll, inventory, budget,and operational practices to meet the changing needs of the department andclinical partners.

Works within Sim Capture to set-up andcreate recordings of standardized patient activities.

Assists Director of SPs to ensure thatthe SP experiences, equipment, and spaces meet the accreditation standards ofthe COM.

Participates in required COM staffdevelopment and training as required.

Participates in student eventsincluding but not limited to the White Coat ceremony, service day, graduation,and orientation as assigned.

Supports innovative scholarship andresearch related to standardized patients in collaboration with other facultyand staff.

Supports grant-related opportunitiesto support and enhance standardized patient education at the COM.

Participates in simulation andstandardized patient-related training, continuing education, collaborations,and other related activities to maintain competency and be aware of new ideasand opportunities for innovation.

Completes otherduties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum qualifications:

Associate'sdegree in a related field from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degreein a related field from an accredited institution.

Demonstratedexperience in HR, SP training or medical education.

Experience withtechnology and organizational, educational or instructional design software andprinciples.

Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination ofexperience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilitiesrequired to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is notlimited to, the following:
