Description

Job Summary:

Helps establish and enforce processes that fall within the safe food handling guidelines. Trains and follows up with the production teams to ensure good manufacturing practices (GMPs) are followed. Audits company practices to measure the success of the quality programs, and issues corrective actions to drive compliance and improvement

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in developing key processes which drive food safety, process consistency and product qualityMonitor the food safety and product quality processes.Train, educate, coach and mentor production leads and operators in key food safety and quality processes and requirements.Provide expertise, guidance and leadership regarding Regulatory compliance at the plant levelAct as a primary liaison to corporate Quality Assurance and outside Regulatory agencies, i.e. USDA, FDA, OSHA, and Utah Department of Agriculture.Acts as primary liaison for customer quality concerns/complaint issuesManage the contracted food safety prerequisites. E.g., pest control, water management, lubricant, and chemical safety.Knowledge and experience in data collection, record keeping, documentation, and implementation required for all quality management systems. E.g., HACCP, GMP's, SSOP's, SOP's, OSHA, allergens, sanitation, microbiological testing, ingredients, vendor certification/approval, inbound and outbound inspections, product traceability, raw and finished product inspection, GMO, MSDS, and food safety trainingAudits and submits corrective actions to operations for compliance to regulationsEnsures highly disciplined compliance with all product and process quality standards including, product quality evaluation, formulations, procedures, programs and systems including hold and release, recall and foreign material contamination guidelines and resolutions.Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree of food science or a related field6+ years of experience in a food manufacturing environment2+ years of FSQA Management experience in a food manufacturing environmentExcellent written and oral communication skillsMidlevel understanding of microbiology and food scienceStrong computer skills and understanding of process excellence methodologiesKnowledge and experience with USDA, FDA, OSHA, HACCP regulationsExperience with Gluten Free regulationsWork Environment and Physical Demand:

Requires light physical effort. Occasionally lifts or moves light objects (under 10 lbs.).Walks, sits, or stands for prolonged periods.Requires prolonged machine operation including computer and keyboard equipment.Able to work in a fast-paced environment and able to multi-task and prioritize.
