Director of Operations - Cancer CenterOcean Springs - Cancer Center | Full-Time | Monday-Friday (8am-5pm) |3535 Bienville Blvd, Suite 220Ocean Springs, Mississippi, 39564United StatesPosition OverviewThe Director of Operations is responsible for the direct oversight of all operations and clinical integrity for assigned service(s). The Director is responsible for the administration of fiscal operations, including, annual operating and capital expenditure budget and authorizing expenditures. He/She supervises and evaluates work activities to improve service utilization and establishes objectives and evaluative/operational criteria. The Director manages the operational effectiveness of the service(s) in a manner that maximizes the patient experience, staff collaboration and effectiveness, and net revenues.

The Director of Operations is responsible for consistently improving efficiencies within the assigned service(s) and will assist with compliance of contractual agreements, licensing rules and recommendations, and government reporting requirements. He/She serves as the strategic business leader for the assigned service(s); develops the business strategy and directs the core strategic and operating planning processes. The Director serves as the operational leader; ensures that the service(s) provide(s) a level of service, quality, and accessibility that simultaneously results in lower possible cost and increased patient and employee satisfaction. He/She is charged with improving operational efficiency by designing and implementing processes and programs to assist in achieving key operational strategies.

The Director of Operations serves as a financial leader enabling the service(s) to achieve goals while maintaining a competitive cost structure. As a change leader, the Director will partner with organizational leaders to facilitate change that enables the service(s) to remain competitive and effective. He/She provides leadership and management responsibility over all functions within the assigned service(s); develops and oversees high quality, cost-effective, and integrated clinics, departments, service(s), and programs.

EducationA bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Nursing or related field is required (emphasis in Healthcare Administration preferred). Master's degree preferred.

ExperienceA minimum of five (5) years' health care management experience required. Radiation Oncology and/or Medical Oncology management experience strongly preferred.

Physical DemandsWork is moderately active: involves regular requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and to travel to another facility within the organization's service area. Work involves exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work involves using repetitive motions: substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard, copier, and 10-key.

Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction; the ability to make fine discriminations in sound. Work requires close visual acuity and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i.e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms/printed material that are closer to compare data at close vision.

Must be able to be active for extended periods of time without experiencing undue fatigue. Must be able to work flexible hours, when required/requested.

Mental DemandsComprehensive and thorough understanding of health care delivery systems, day-to-day operations and financial issues required. Knowledge of management principles, processes and procedures. Knowledge of regulatory agency standards required. Knowledge and understanding of radiation and medical oncology billing preferred. Knowledge with oncology information systems preferred.

Must possess keen mental faculties in the management of information. Must demonstrate the emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels associated with ongoing and changing needs of the position and the demands of maintaining effective working relationships with others. Must be intuitive and skilled at problem solving. Must be able to speak persuasively; must be able to write clearly and informatively to accepted standards of grammar and spelling; ensure adequate, effective communication with all shareholders to maintain organization's values, goals, and culture.

Special DemandsMust demonstrate the ability to achieve or exceed identified strategic goals in service excellence, internal systems and processes, learning and growth initiatives, and financial health. Must be proficient with a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (i.e., MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Must possess the ability to work independently with little supervision and seek guidance as need to clarify assignments or request for more information. Must possess basic business skills, an understanding of general financial operations and major AR goals in the healthcare environment.

Job requires traveling throughout the service area - with the employee providing his/her own transportation. Must have a valid driver license.
