LOCATION:
Chicagoland preferred, or Remote with travel
TRAVEL:
50% -75% depending on location
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Lean will be responsible for the deployment of the Lean/Continuous Improvement within one of our client's business units. They will collaborate with and coach plant and division-level leadership to drive Lean culture through the business, with a focus on problem-solving and demonstration of company core values.
This role will make an immediate impact by...• Driving a major cultural shift within the business through deployment of their Lean business system• Coaching and mentoring plant-level leaders on the Lean program• Being a catalyst for change where Lean transformation progress is stalled, or in newly acquired facilities needing a jumpstart on the CI program
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Developing and applying Lean tools and methodologies to achieve financial objectives and improvements to KPIsExemplifying the culture of Continuous Improvement when dealing with stakeholders at all levelsFacilitating improvements based on strategic objectives and stakeholder expectationsDeveloping tactical action items from corporate strategic visionCoaching a team-oriented problem-solving approach to analyze current conditions, diagnose problems, and make improvementsAnalyzing business metrics and trends to develop improvement strategies and a future vision for the businessTraining teammates, peers, and leaders on Lean methods in both formalized training sessions and stop-and-teach at GembaLeading and coaching Kaizen eventsDriving Lean transformation in challenging locations, manufacturing sites or business segments where rollout has stalled or needs a catalyst for change; assisting with Lean rollout in newly acquired businesses as applicableIdentifying, coaching, and mentoring future Lean talent to support professional advancement
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:• Bachelor's Degree in a technical field; advanced degree preferred (MS Engineering, MBA)• Master Black Belt, related Lean Six Sigma certification, or equivalent experience• 8-10 years of experience in Continuous Improvement, Operations, and General Management (global and/or multi-site experience preferred)• Bilingual in Spanish highly beneficial• Experience with Lean transformation and rollout across multiple types of businesses or industries• Multisite experience preferred with focus on manufacturing operations• Proven successful application of Lean tools: 80/20, Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Standard Work, FMEA, Problem Solving, Kanban, Visual Daily Management, Policy Deployment• Strong business and financial acumen, engaging and dynamic leadership skills, and bias for action• Ability to engage with all levels of the organization, including training of peers as well as executives• Team player that is always willing to coach• Strong written and verbal communication skills• General computer skills and advanced MS Office Suite experience
