Coordinator
position . This full-time position will support existing programs in the Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute and collaborate with staff to ensure that those facilitating programs are fully prepared.
The Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute (GEHLI) promotes the development of current and emerging leaders in Virginia state and local government, academic institutions, public, private, and nonprofit organizations, and communities of the Commonwealth. GEHLI offers an integrated series of professional development programs that develop critical skills at the supervisory, management, senior leadership, and local levels. We offer competence-based curricula utilizing proven practices delivered by engaging, highly experienced professionals.
Consistent with the mission of Virginia Commonwealth University, the Institute is committed to identifying and nurturing the next generation of leaders through leadership training and public policy research.
This is a restricted position with renewal beyond the first year reliant upon the availability of funding.

Typical Duties
The Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute's
Program Coordinator
position will assist in providing timely, targeted, and relevant logistical support and technical assistance to training and professional development programs for government and nonprofit participants and organizations. This position reports to the Business Development Liaison and works with other faculty/staff on special projects. Overall, this position is to give administrative support for training, facilitation, and general office needs. Duties include but are not limited to logistical support and preparing for facilitation and training classes, drafting correspondence, small design projects, managing office supplies, and other assigned administrative tasks. This professional will also engage with clients, hotels, and vendors independently, engage with applicants to programs, administer and provide back-up support for assessments, set up events, provide support to facilitators during professional development events, and actively engage participants to ensure a positive experience at events. Assisting with program budgets, and being able to evaluate costs and options to identify cost savings is important. This person should be willing to work in-person at the office, as well as occasionally travel out of town to events, and have the ability to work remotely.Because of remote working, duties also include extensive knowledge of ZOOM and Google Meet.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications/Hiring Standards
• Experience working with state agencies or state/local government.
• Experience with administrating various assessments including DISC, MBTI, Platinum Rule, FourSight Inventory, and Insight Inventory.
• Experience with 360-degree feedback.
• Demonstrate expertise as a problem-solver.
• Experience preparing budgets.
• Experience with using online managing and registration platforms such as Cvent.
• Experience reviewing contracts.
• Experience managing an office, including office maintenance, maintaining inventory, and ordering supplies.
• Demonstrate experience training others.
• Project management experience.
Minimum Qualifications/Hiring Standards
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with a variety of online platforms, hosting and co-hosting meetings.
• Strong analytic and critical thinking skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and meet numerous deadlines.
• Ability to engage clients when attending in-person events.
• Ability to work independently, but in a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to travel to help cover events.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment and with a lens focused on equity
• General knowledge of computer applications and software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Should be detail-oriented, focused, organized, reliable, responsive, and proactive.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment at VCU.
