Job Summary:

It is the responsibility of the EEG Technician to instruct and position the patient for EEG testing, properly execute EEG test, preliminarily review test for possible evidence of disorders, seizures, or extraneous artifacts. The Technician will also maintain EEG equipment and report and document malfunctioning equipment.

Responsibilities:Record via an electroencephalograph impulse frequencies and differences in electrical potential between various areas of the brainRecord via doppler, audio signal, and velocity waveforms indices from the ocular artery for diagnostic purposesRecord via a TECA Computerized analyzer brain auditory responses, visual responses, and somatosensory evoked responses as an aid to neurological disorder diagnosisStudy characteristics of tracings to detect brain wave disorders and identifies traces caused by interferencesPrepare patient for testing by attaching electrodes to specific positions on the patients head and body locations, and placing probes to specific positions outside the eyeRequirements:

High School diploma or EquivalencyEEG Certification3 months formal training at a hospital having a neurology lab. 3-6 months apprenticeship training acceptableKnowledge of all EEG machinery and equipmentPrevious experience working as an EEG Technician in a hospital preferredKnowledge of Neuroanatomy preferred
