Position Qualifications:Masters Degree in Speech and Language Pathology

Valid Arkansas license in Speech and Language PathologyHave the Certificate of Clinical CompetenceMinimum 3 year work experience is preferredExperience with Medicaid billing is preferredExperience in a public education setting is preferred

Job Goal:The Speech/Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Speech/Language Pathologist must work closely with the staff and administration of the school district.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Evaluate and diagnose communication disorders according to stateand federal special education guidelines.Monitor student progress and make informed, timely educational decisionsParticipate in evaluation conferences.Participate in developing students' IEPs.Provide therapy, followup, and/or consultation based on student IEPsImplement an individual education plan for assigned students.Cooperate with teachers and parents by providing information,discussing appropriate goals and offering any other assistance.Monitor and conduct ongoing evaluation of student progress.Participate in parent conferences to review students' progress.Conduct a conference when additional changes or discontinuance of a special program is indicated.Cooperate in the districts' inservice training program.Maintain special education due process/work files.Provide appropriate speech language services across grade levelsDocument progress of students and maintain information needed for Medicaid billing.Ensure that all activities conform to the district guidelines.Maintain Progress Notes and Annual Performance in preparation for advancement from grade-to-gradeMaintain compliance and due processCreate appropriate goals and objectives to address speech languageOther duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services
