Position Qualifications: Masters Degree in Speech and Language Pathology
Valid Arkansas license in Speech and Language Pathology Have the Certificate of Clinical Competence Minimum 3 year work experience is preferred Experience with Medicaid billing is preferred Experience in a public education setting is preferred
Job Goal: The Speech/Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Speech/Language Pathologist must work closely with the staff and administration of the school district.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Evaluate and diagnose communication disorders according to state and federal special education guidelines. Monitor student progress and make informed, timely educational decisions Participate in evaluation conferences. Participate in developing students' IEPs. Provide therapy, followup, and/or consultation based on student IEPs Implement an individual education plan for assigned students. Cooperate with teachers and parents by providing information, discussing appropriate goals and offering any other assistance. Monitor and conduct ongoing evaluation of student progress. Participate in parent conferences to review students' progress. Conduct a conference when additional changes or discontinuance of a special program is indicated. Cooperate in the districts' inservice training program. Maintain special education due process/work files. Provide appropriate speech language services across grade levels Document progress of students and maintain information needed for Medicaid billing. Ensure that all activities conform to the district guidelines. Maintain Progress Notes and Annual Performance in preparation for advancement from grade-to-grade Maintain compliance and due process Create appropriate goals and objectives to address speech language Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services
