Maritime Project Lead
Purpose:
Continental Tide has an immediate need for a Project Lead who will be a key support to Senior Leadership and the Fleet Operations. The location of this position is in Virginia Beach, VA.
Job Description:
Continental Tide is seeking a motivated, energetic AIT experienced Site Foreman / Project Lead able to make an immediate positive impact for our Norfolk VA and San Diego CA offices.
The candidate’s primary function will be to interface with Continental Tide Program Managers, Project Managers and Project Team Staff.
Must have a strong background in the operation, installation, repair, modification, and maintenance of Naval HM&E or Electronic systems and equipment; including but not limited to the supervision of technical support for Alteration/SC installation, maintenance and repair of HM&E ship systems.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated proficiency in executing programs related to ship Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) or electronic system projects and initiatives.
Previous direct experience working with the Navy is essential.
The Project Lead must clearly demonstrate expertise as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a specific industrial discipline, e.g. Structural Electrical Mechanical, as well as have a good understanding of each of the other disciplines IOT effectively plan and execute the project plan.
As a Site Foreman your responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following:
Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Execution: Lead and oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of shipboard HM&E or electronic system projects, ensuring adherence to quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
Technical Expertise: Apply in-depth working knowledge of power generation, power transmission, and auxiliary machinery systems to provide technical guidance and ensure project specifications are met.
Team Leadership: Lead cross-functional project teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment. Provide mentorship and support to team members as needed.
Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality assurance processes to guarantee the delivery of high-quality ship systems.
Reporting: Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and upcoming milestones.
Required Experience:
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in ship repair or a related field preferred.
Proven experience as a Site Foreman or similar role in AIT ship repair.
Knowledge of shipboard systems and equipment.
Familiarity with safety regulations and practices.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Willingness to travel and work in various locations as required.
5 to 7 years previous experience overseeing and directing 'Project-Level' initiatives.
Proven ability to lead a fifteen (5) to (10) tradesperson Alteration Installation Team (AIT).
Experience in directing daily production to attain schedule milestones.
Knowledge of maintaining QAWB and OQE requirements.
Experience communicating directly with management, subcontractors, and customers regarding project cost, staffing, and scheduling.
Background in preparing status reports and ensuring plans adhere to contract specifications.
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of ship alteration/installation processes and procedures
Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and deliver projects on time and within.
Security Requirements:
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance to access military facilities, naval shipyards, private shipyards, and Naval installations.
Due to export control regulations, this role is open to U.S. citizens only.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional Travel- up t0 10% within and outside of the continental United States.
If a position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
Ability to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
