Position SummaryThe Division of Cardiology, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has an opening for an Open Rank Faculty appointment (MD) for an intensivist to work in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Responsibilities will be primarily based in the CICU but may also include outpatient cardiology clinic, attending on inpatient heart failure service, and cardiovascular imaging depending on interests and training. Teaching internal medicine residents and cardiology fellows is an integral part of the job. Good clinical, teaching, and interpersonal skills are essential whereas board certification in critical care medicine, an active research program, experience in quality improvement programs and experience in cardiac imaging are pluses.

Position rank and track (fixed term vs. tenure track) is dependent upon applicant qualifications and experience.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and ExperiencePreferred qualifications and experience include: training and experience in assessment and management of critically ill cardiac patients including management of ventilators and mechanical support devices.
