Job Responsibilities
Position Title:
Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Scientist
Shift: Night AND/OR Graveyard only
Location:
Orlando, FL area
As a Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing moderate and high complexity testing, analyzing, reviewing, and reporting test results and quality control results, as well as taking remedial action when indicated. You will ensure specimen integrity by following proper procedures for specimen handling and processing, as well as adhering to policies and procedures to include departmental programs, quality control, quality assurance, and safety. Performs staff Medical Technologist duties.
Additional responsibilities of the Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Scientist include:
Biological specimen preparation, labeling, preservation or fixation, and processingPerforming moderate to high complexity tests according to established protocolsAssisting in preventative maintenance and troubleshootingPreparation and storage of specimens, reagents, and culture mediaAssisting in the performance of quality control proceduresMaintaining/monitoring TAT for all department assaysAdhering to documentation and record-keeping standardsFollowing the laboratory's Quality Management SystemCollaborate with other team members and leadershipLaboratory maintenance activities, including assisting with inventory, biohazardous waste disposal, sterilization of glassware, and maintaining a neat and organized work areaOther duties as assignedPhysical Demands:
This position will require extensive use of a computer (mousing, keyboarding) and may involve extended periods of sitting and/or standing, as well as repetitive motions (pipetting) and visual color discrimination
Safety:
Some risk of exposure to chemicals, biological substances, sharps and/or scientific instruments capable of causing bodily injury if used improperly. We comply with OSHA standards regarding Bloodborne pathogens, Safety Needle Act, Chemical Hygiene Plan in addition to maintaining robust safety & training programs

Job Requirements
Successful candidates for the Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Scientist must be certified in the area of medical laboratory science by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or equivalent (AMT, AAB, etc.).
Active license as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory TechnicianAt least 2 years of experience in a CAP/CLIA laboratoryBachelor's degree in Biological Science is a plus but Associate Degree AcceptedKnowledge of Microbiology techniques is preferredA patient-first, mission-oriented mindset
