Reporting to the Senior Associate Athletics Director/ CFO, the Associate Athletics Director of Finance and Budget will provide active, hands-on leadership for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education, supporting long-term program growth and financial viability. The incumbent directly assists the CFO on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost-benefit analysis, managerial accounting, and forecasting needs. This role is responsible for planning, leading, and managing all financial functions for the Columbia Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education.
Responsibilities
Manage the development, oversight, and reconciliation of all department budgets, including monthly financial reporting for Coaches and Administration.
Supports all financial reporting, data collection, data analysis, and forecasting for 31 athletic programs and administrative units. This includes the preparation of monthly and year-end financial and statistical reports for distribution to coaches and staff - including data specific for EADA, Internal Ledgers, NCAA Reporting, Audit and Capital projects, etc.
Prepares and assists in the analysis and interpretation of financial data for budgets, capital projects, endowments, and special events
Support the Senior Associate Athletics Director / CFO with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes - including processing of accounting journal entries, transfers, and vouchers.
Liaison with other financial departments, such as the Office of Budget and Management and Development & Alumni Relations
Assist in being the point of contact for areas of finance and administration, including purchasing, budget office, payroll, and accounts payable.
Provide guidance, advice, and consultation to managers, supervisors, and staff covering a broad range of financial policies and procedures. This includes facilitation of communication to vendors, stakeholders, and other University departments to independently resolve issues, communicate results, and drive performance improvement.
Coordinate with the Assistant Director of Finance and Budget and Athletics Business Office Staff
Works with the Senior Associate Athletics Director/CFO, and Human Resources Manager, on Human Resources-related tasks, including serving as the initiator for PeopleSoft transactions relating to payroll - specifically salary distributions, cost transfers and additional compensation requests as needed, as well as assistance with administering the annual Department employee performance evaluation process.

Assume any other Budget and Finance Office duties as assigned by the Senior Associate AD / CFO and/or the Director, Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Minimum of 7 years related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with accounting and expense management systems.
Proactive and detail-oriented with strong follow-up skills.
Strong Communication skills.
An understanding of the mission and purpose of institutions of higher education.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a collegiate athletics department with demonstrated fiscal and operational management skills.
Advanced in Microsoft Office/Excel.
Experience with financial planning, analytics, and modeling.
Advanced Degree.
