The College of Fine Arts is the college of creativity at The University of Texas at Austin-a home for artists, performers, designers, scholars, educators, makers and creatives ready to change the world.This Building Manager position reports to the Assistant Director of Operations at the Butler School of Music.Purpose
The Butler School of Music Building Manager oversees the daily operation and maintenance of the Music Recital Hall (MRH) and Jessen Auditorium to ensure reliable use of classrooms, practice rooms, offices and studios for faculty, students, and staff. This position also serves a liaison to the other college departments, the dean's office, and our campus partners.Responsibilities
Daily Operations:
Responsible for maintaining the physical needs of the Butler School of Music buildings, including reporting electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, custodial, landscape, fire prevention, solid waste management, and moving needs to the appropriate campus contacts. Proactively report building issues on behalf of faculty and staff. Detailed reporting of issues and client follow-up are essential.
IT Liaison : Serve as the point of contact for the College of Fine Arts IT team to coordinate employee needs for computer deployment, separation retrieval, and incident escalation, as needed.
Capital Projects and Construction:
Serve as the primary point of contact between the University's construction division and college stakeholders. Assess and prioritize facility needs, provide building access as well as insight into building issues and use patterns. Participate in construction meetings and provide clear and proactive communication to stakeholders. Work in partnership with the College's Facility Manager who seeks to align all construction projects with the strategic plan.
Inventory:
Perform annual equipment inventory for Inventory Services. This includes tagging and recording new assets (furnishings, equipment, computers, etc.), and deleting old, lost, or sold items from the inventory. Manage office equipment and furnishings, and surplus items that are no longer needed.
Building Access:
Serve as the primary manager of the building access system. Establish and maintain the lock/unlock schedule for each building door. Enter staff and faculty credentials into the system to provide building access using their UT ID card. Serve as building Key Signature Authority, issuing keys to new faculty and staff. Remain in compliance with the Key Control and Accountability Policy, and participate in annual key audits.
Safety and Security Committee:
Attend all college Safety and Security Committee meetings and trainings, includes scheduled, ad hoc, and emergency meetings. Responsible for communicating security incidents and concerns with discretion and appropriate urgency. Maintain Building Emergency Plan, work with the campus fire marshal, and perform monthly fire extinguisher inspections.
Academic Space Management and Planning : Responsible for reporting building space use to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Track metrics including room capacity, square footage, use type, owning department, occupying department, and office occupant(s). Update data base in response to staff changes, as needed. Must become familiar with room metrics and be prepared for annual space audits.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
At least three years of experience of facility management or related field.
Proficiency with a computer including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
Experience maintaining a database.
