A sleep technologist works under the general supervision of the medical director or designee toprovide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center and home sleep apnea testing,diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education. A sleep technologist canscore and generate physician interpretations. A sleep technologist is credentialed in sleep technology and is able to provideoversight of other sleep center staff. Technicians and trainees work under the direct supervision of the credentialed sleeptechnologist or the medical director. Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the ServiceExcellence Standards to all customer groups.PROVISION OF SERVICESDemonstrates the ability to develop and implement an age appropriate plan of care using assessment andclinical skills, with the ability of evaluating the plan of care and making adjustments as the clinical settingchanges. Performs sleep disorder studies accurately and safely as ordered by physicians. Operates allequipment utilized for sleep disorder diagnosis and treatment. May calibrate equipment required for testingand make adjustments. Determines testing parameters and procedures with aid of a physician. Scoressleep/wake stages. Completes and verifies records of all procedures performed. Oversees unusual anddifficult procedures. Complies with Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)standards.
