Key Responsibilities:Extracorporeal Circulation Management:
Operate heart-lung machines, ventricular assist devices, and other equipment to support or temporarily replace the patient's circulatory or respiratory functions during surgery.Monitor Patient Status:
Continuously monitor the patient's blood flow, blood pressure, and other vital signs during surgical procedures, adjusting equipment settings as necessary to maintain optimal patient stability.Blood Conservation Techniques:
Implement blood conservation strategies, including intraoperative blood salvage and autotransfusion procedures, to minimize the need for blood products.Perfusion Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure all perfusion equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and prepared before each procedure. Perform regular checks and troubleshooting as needed.Collaboration with Surgical Team:
Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical staff to ensure the safe and effective management of extracorporeal support during surgery.Documentation:
Accurately document all aspects of the perfusion process, including patient data, equipment settings, and any adjustments made during the procedure.
Qualifications:Certification:
Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP).Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Perfusionist in a hospital setting, with proficiency in adult cardiac surgeries.Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of perfusion equipment, extracorporeal circulation, and blood conservation techniques.Communication Skills:
Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with the surgical team.Attention to Detail:
High level of attention to detail and ability to manage critical situations calmly and efficiently.
