Summary Description
Responsible for the internal audit function. Provides assistance to the Internal Audit Manager in all aspects of the Company's internal audit program. Includes particular emphasis on internal control documentation and testing, as well as monitoring internal controls to ensure their effective operation.
Essential Functions
Abides by internal audit schedule to ensure completion of required auditsConduct audits to determine the accuracy of financial information, compliance with Company policies and procedures and state and federal laws and regulationsConduct interviews to determine the process and flow of transactions and identify control proceduresEvaluate the adequacy of the design and operating effectiveness of internal controlsPrepare audit working papers in accordance with audit standards and document performance through narratives, flow charts and spreadsheetsIdentify factors causing deficient conditions or ineffective processes and provide constructive, economical and practical recommendations for findings in audit reportsInteract with all levels of management and staff during the course of audits and discuss results with appropriate higher level management personnelEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with all Company employeesDevelop monitoring programs to determine that internal controls are operating as intended. Perform transactional testing to determine that controls are in place and operating effectivelyParticipate in or conduct control self-assessment programs with Company personnelReview regulatory and accounting issuances to determine their impact on Company controls and processesMaintain confidentiality of information obtained and reviewedWork with external auditors to ensure the completion of walkthroughs, entity level controls, and quarterly control testingPosition Requirements
BA/BS Degree in Business Administration or AccountingCPA or CIA preferredA minimum of two (2) years experience in all aspects of bank audit and bank risk managementStrong personal computing skills, including experience with Microsoft OfficeWork is generally performed indoors in environmentally controlled conditionsTypically the employee may sit to perform the work. However, there may be some standing, walking, bending and carrying of light items in the course of the workReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsCritical Skills / Expertise
Ability to work well independently and in a team environmentExceptional analytical and problem solving abilitiesExceptional written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work and interact with all departments throughout the organization Thorough knowledge of audit procedures (with emphasis in banking organizations)Knowledge of the theories and principles of auditing and accounting and internal audit standards
