Department: Quality Control FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Grade/Level:Job Type: Regular Work Schedule: Scheduled shift based on the needs of the business.Job Status: Full TimeReports To: QA/QC ManagerAmount of Travel Required: NonePositions Supervised: NonePOSITION SUMMARYThe main purpose of the Quality Control Inspector position is to assure that all fabricated materials have been fabricated correctly as required per all applicable codes, project specifications and approved shop drawing. Additionally, the Quality Control Inspector must ensure that all welded members meet the acceptance criteria as per the American Welding Society.Essential Functions Statement(s)Must verify a number of weld performance criteria and determine the acceptance, rejection and issuing of non-conformance. Specific verification requirements are:Verification of member length Verification of hole LOC and DIA Verification of sub-assemblies B. comp. Verification of CPES and bevels Verification of camberVerification of preheatingVerification of main member piece mark, sequence, paint, and profileVerification of proper weld joint, fit-up requirements to keep member from being missed or duplicated as well as ensure correct paint requirements.Inspection of completed welds verification of weld size and perform non-destructive testing of welds to determine weld soundness and strength of weld.Must comply with Steel Service Quality Control Inspector Responsibilities "Inspection and Testing - Procedure No. 13" in accordance with A.I.S.C and A.W.S. D1.1 process (see Inspection and Testing - Procedure No. 13)Responsible for correction of incorrectly fit sub-assemblies and unacceptable welds to avoid field repairs and negative production results.Accountable for painted material corrections to prevent coatings failure and field repairs of failed coatings.Interact and interface with fitters, welders, painters, shop foreman, and plant superintendent.Must be able to identify and solve production problems such as:Correction of incomplete shop drawings Dimensional errorsIncorrect hole dimensions or diameters Incorrect weld joint fit-upIncorrect or missing weld information on shop drawings Incorrect weld symbolsMissing weld detailsMissing dimensions on shop drawingsResponsible for calibrating and issuing inspection equipment to personnel.Inspectors must perform their job with integrity, professionalism, dedication, and fairness while doing their job.
