Technical Account Manager
Our client, a leader in the cutting-edge Optical Metrology industry, is seeking two or three highly motivated individuals to join their Great Lakes office in Novi, MI. This role includes supporting territories in Michigan, Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois. The company is the exclusive U.S. supplier of advanced 3D optical strain measurement systems and supports a wide range of industries including aerospace, automotive, medical, and more.
Position Overview:As a Technical Account Manager (TAM), you will be the primary resource and trusted advisor for customers, driving new opportunities while managing the entire customer relationship from initial contact through solution delivery. Your role will involve understanding customer business goals and technical challenges, ensuring their satisfaction with tailored solutions. With a goal of achieving complete autonomy within 6-8 months, you will also be tasked with growing existing accounts and identifying new areas for expansion.
Key Responsibilities:- Cover territories in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois.- Present and demonstrate advanced 3D testing solutions to industries such as automotive, aerospace, medical, and consumer goods.- Design and develop tailored proposals based on customer needs and opportunities.- Establish and manage new accounts from initial contact through order and project completion.- Collaborate with the technical team to provide customized solutions for prospects.- Maintain accurate records in the company's CRM and provide detailed territory forecasts.- Travel (up to 40%) within North America to conduct business meetings and technical demonstrations.- Support existing accounts to ensure customer satisfaction and identify additional system opportunities.- Develop intermediate-level product knowledge and proficiency to demonstrate system capabilities.
Qualifications:- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.- BA/BS in Engineering, Business, Economics, or a technical field, or equivalent experience.- Understanding of basic mechanical engineering concepts.- Outbound phone experience required.- Strong PC application knowledge and excellent presentation skills.- Willingness to travel up to 60% as needed.- Self-motivated, organized, and a strong team player with excellent communication skills.
Preferred Experience:- 1-3 years in sales or a related engineering position.- Experience or passion in areas such as mechanical engineering, automotive testing, biomechanics, or capital equipment sales.- Strong closing skills and experience in executive-level business discussions.- Demonstrated success in achieving sales goals.
