Job DescriptionResponsibilitiesPerform inspections of structural steel bolting and welding in accordance with appropriate codes, such as AWS D1.1, D1.3, AISC Manual of Steel Construction, etc.Perform inspections of pipe and miscellaneous welding.Proctor/observe welder qualification tests.Prepare reports of inspections and tests.Assist with other work, such as floor profile measurement, pacometer (R-meter) location of reinforcing steel, concrete imaging radar location of reinforcing steel and various others.QualificationsCurrent Certified Welding Inspector and/or ICC Bolting, Welding, and Structural Steel Inspector certificates.Ability to read and interpret project drawings and codes.Familiarity with other welding codes, such as ASME and API codes.Non-destructive testing experience and qualification preferred. Methods to look for are magnetic particle, ultrasonic, and dye penetrant.Articulated Lift operators card/certificate preferred.Willingness to learn and perform work outside this description if needs arise (making cylinders or prisms, observing post-tensioning operations, water spray testing, etc.)Preferred Qualifications (Individual qualifications and/or combinations can be evaluated on a case by case basis)CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification from the American Welding Society.ASNT (American Society for Non-destructive Testing) Level II ACCP (ASNT Central Certification Program) technician in Magnetic Particle (MT), Dye Penetrant (PT), and/or Ultrasonic Testing (UT).ICC (International Code Council) Structural Steel and Bolting certificationICC Structural Steel and Welding certificationExperience with reinforcing steel inspection, post-tensioned concrete inspection and reporting, or other related experience is also a plus, but not required.
