Lead Inspector

Job Summary:
The Lead inspector role is the 'Go to' person for inspection issues and/or guidance. Perform receiving, in-process, first article, and final inspection.
Major Responsibilities:Communicate directly with Production and Supply Management on issues that impact product acceptance, serving as a technical inspection liaison to manufacturing and other departments for specific issues and requests.Help manufacturing and assembly areas troubleshoot and resolve inspection problems as they occur.Perform incoming, first piece, first article, and final piece part inspection.Inspect parts to defined requirements / specifications, perform dimensional inspections and identify visual defects, accepting final responsibility for customer quality.Approve finished products by confirming specifications, conduct visual and measurement tests, returning products for re-work as needed, confirming rework.Accurately complete quality assurance records.Manage received raw material.Write Defective Material Reports as necessary for non-conforming product.Prepare first article and other inspection reports, create and modify inspection plans.Participate in root cause / corrective action investigations.Train other inspectors as needed.Maintain positive working relationships with other departments.Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Two-year degree in quality or manufacturing or equivalent experienceFive (5) years or more of Quality / Inspection Experience.Minimum Competencies:
Advanced knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation.Proficiency with a wide variety of precision inspection equipment used to measure parts with tight tolerances, such as surface plate equipment, hand inspection tools, CMM, optical comparators, & other vision systems.Familiarity with broad range of machining processes (turning, milling, broaching, shaping, hobbing, grinding, etc.).Preferred Qualifications:
MRP / ERP experience.Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.Lean and/or Six Sigma certifications a plus.Preferred Competencies:
Able to communicate effectively with other personnelExperience with AS9102, ISO 9001, and AS9100.Operational Details / Work Environment:
This position operates in a shop environment with moving machinery.This is largely a sedentary role; however, some lifting is required. This would require the ability to lift up to 20 lbs and bend or stand as necessary.1st shift
